    Light roast:  Light spiciness with a hint of chocolate.

    Medium roast:  Strong wine aromas with bolder spice.  Balanced complexity with each flavor coming forward throughout the cup.  Fruity wine flavors to begin, spicy following with a great chocolate finish.

    Dark roast:  Tobacco and bakers chocolate highlight this roast with a hint of spicy floral aromas.  Cedar hints toward the end of each sip is a nice finish.

    Grown at high altitudes, the "strictly hard bean" (SHB) coffees are more dense and harder than lower altitude beans, delivering a wonderful and well balanced flavor. Guatemala Santa Rosa is a great cup of coffee at all roasts with a enjoyable balance of tangy acidity.  100% Arabica beans

    Light Roast:  Due to the density of SHB coffee, the light roast of Santa Rosa Los Alamos could be considered bitter to many casual coffee drinkers.  It is very enjoyable with a touch of simple sugar or raw agave syrup to bring out the fruit undertones, such as apple and apricot.

    Medium Roast:  At the medium roast, Santa Rosa Los Alamos' fantastic flavors come out in every cup with subtle complexities. Best enjoyed via french press or pour over.

    Dark Roast:  Amazing cup of coffee. Because SHB coffee beans are significantly harder than other beans, it tends to take a bit longer to get the full flavor of the bean. In our opinion, this bean shines as a dark roast and displays the full range of flavors from citrus, stone fruit, apple and a caramel/chocolate taste.

    Our Guatemala Huehuetenango (pronounced WAY-way-ta-naango) Strictly Hard Bean European Preparation is a fantastic and balanced cup of coffee at every roast level.  Guatemala is a wonderful country for coffee growing, producing unique complexities from each region.  Huehuetenango beans have always been some of our favorites and now we get to share them with you.

    Strictly Hard Bean classification is specific to those coffees grown above 1350 meters, usually resulting in a more dense and complex flavor profile.

    European Preparation states that the raw beans are sorted by hand to remove defects and any foreign materials.

    Light roast:  Light roast of the Huehuetenango is light and refreshing, highlighting the sweet acids and fruit notes.

    Dark Roast:   Deep chocolate strawberry notes with a fine light aftertaste.

    Need a spot of coffee after some rough seas but don't want to stay up all night?  Maybe you want to just unwind in the evenings? We've found a perfect decaf to complete your day.

    Our Mexico Turquesa Decaf is decaffeinated using the Mountain Water Process described here.  This process is a natural, and our preferred process, because there is no use of chemicals to remove the caffeine.

    The Mexico Turquesa Decaf carries a bold chocolate and fruit flavors in each roast and can be ordered in our signature three roasts, described below:

    Light roast:  As smooth as a light milk chocolate.  Flavors such as berries, apples and apricot strike first with a finishing touch of nutty and cocoa undertones.  

    Medium Roast:  You can't go wrong with the medium roast.  Well balanced across the entire flavor spectrum from sweet flavors like caramel and brown sugar to blackberries.  All of this with the flavors of cocoa throughout.

    Dark Roast:  Bold chocolate, spicy and earthy flavors. This roast could easily be confused as a caffeinated coffee with the level of complexity in the roast and the range of flavors.

    Anchor Coffee Roasters searched our suppliers for woman owned and operated coffee plantations which empower women and offer opportunities for growth in their countries. What we found was an amazing coffee and group of suppliers in our Malawi Fair Trade Mzuzu, which is extremely limited. However, Anchor Coffee Roasters was able to get a few bags of this fantastic bean.

    “I want to empower my fellow women to do what I am doing -- to have a good house, to eat good food, and to educate their children. I want my rural village to become a town. I produce Women’s Coffee because I love coffee!”~ Linly Msyali Mkalira, Mzuzu producer whose coffee contributed to this AAA/AA lot

    Mzuzu Coffee recognizes many of the challenges of facing women coffee growers in the region is land and tree ownership.  In a combined effort between men and women in the region, the Mzuzu Women's Coffee Policy was created to support these efforts.  Our coffee is traceable to women farmers who own their own coffee fields.  Proceeds are paid directly to women who reinvest in their coffee growing efforts and into educational, health care and other empowering projects in the region.

    We are excited to offer this unique and great bean from Papua New Guinea, one of many we will offer.  We are pleased with the bright cup of coffee this bean delivers at all roast levels.

    This bean boasts a wonderful citrus acidity with rich chocolatey notes.  A creamy body and finish.

    Costa Rica Tarrazú Don Roberto

    Our first Costa Rican bean and we couldn't be happier with the choice.  A fantastic and unique bean from the Tarrazú region of Costa Rica, this bean is grown at no less than 4200 feet.  It boasts wonderful acidity with a rich aroma and a full body. 

    Light Roast:  High acidity but not overpowering.  The light roast of this bean is very complex with a sharp flavor.  Definitely a great roast for the morning 'get up and go'.

    Medium Roast:  Lighter levels of acid bring out the sweetness of the chocolate and the increased notes of the beans. 

    Dark Roast:  Tremendous chocolate notes and boldness you'd expect from a dark roast.
